Seabird Bistro Canggu

Though more and more restaurants in Bali offer Mediterranean food, Seabird Bistro Canggu finds ways to have fun with the well-beloved fare. Chef Reyno Firmansyah takes the cuisine’s many comforts and infuses a sense of playfulness and locality to create the menu here. Remnants of its past life as a French-style bistro are still visible in the interiors and in certain dishes, such as the Seabass Two Ways, which feature the fish sitting on a duo of robust muhamarra and a béarnaise-style Yemenite hot green zhug. Still, for those who seek something more straightforward, there’s always a lineup of pastas, breads, and light bites that best showcase Middle Eastern and Italian flavours. Not to be missed is the focaccia, which incorporates house-fermented cassava for a slightly alcoholic twang and a more pillowy bounce. With an expansion that includes a coworking space on the way, Seabird continues to become a nest for the most playful and curious.
